Ursa Minor Bakehouse, Co Down

Set up by Ciara O hArtghaile and her husband Dara in Feb 2014 and have now won Slow Food Bakery of the Year 21, 22 & 23 with Real Bread UK

In their words:

We started by supplying sourdough to a local cafe. We now have moved to our second premises of our own having outgrown the original in Ballycastle and we have a second wee bakehouse in Ballintoy too.

We follow the ethos and methods of past bakers, opting to use 3 main ingredients to make our bread – flour, water and salt. We have found that allowing the organic grains to ferment with water over a long period of time produces incredible results. 

We are open for sourdough, pastries, coffee & provisions
